Pain in the Stomach/GERD

I have high cholesterol and triglecirides.  Doctor prescribed LOVAZA for my condition.  After taking this medicine for couple days I felt bloated in my stomach and the bloatedness continued off an on.  I continued to take the medicine for two months hoping my stomach will get adjusted to this medicine but one day I had alchol in the evening and next day I had a very strong Acid Reflux for all day . I must have had almost whole bottle of peptobismol and stopped taking LOVAZA.  I went to the doctor again and he prescribed Nexium and blood test.  From the blood test, they found that I have some kind of bacteria.  The doctor said that this becteria could cause ulcerative condition sometimes. The doctor prescribed Prevpac.  This medicine is very strong and always have bad taste in my mouth. Now I have been taking this medicine for five days.  I still feel pain in the stomach especially in the early morning time close to 5 am.  My question is if I am having pain due to the bacteria then by taking this medicne when should I start feeling comfortable.  Could it be I have some other condition?

Thank you for the information.  Is it possible LOVAZA also had to something with it because it didn't suit my stomach?  Just curious!!

The bacteria is H. pylori and no, taking the meds is not going to make you feel better quickly. The bacteria has messed up your system and it could take months to get things back to normal. Finish taking the Prevpac and make sure you're retested - probably via breath test - to make sure you've gotten rid of the bacteria. Just because you're using the Prevpac (or other meds) doesn't automatically mean the bacteria will be 'gone.'

Then continue with the GERD meds and try to follow a GERD diet which will probably help.

But none of this is going to be quick, unfortunately.
