Pain in upper quadrant

by zippy479, Oct 28, 2008 10:35AM
I am in my early 50ties male with no real health problems. For some time now I have had an off and on dull pain in the upper quadrant on my right side just even with the lower rib. If I sit very straight and pull up (exaggerate my posture) the ache seems to subside. When I lay flat and raise my right arm above my head it become uncomfortable and I usually need to put my arm down for the pain to subside. Sometimes it appears the pain moves from upper to lower right side towards the groin or on occasion toward the middle of my back.  I have had an ultra sound done and the physician indicated he saw no problems. Blood work has also come back negative. I will occasionally jog and seem pain free when I am working out. I have gotten to a point where I have decided to live with it but question whether I should be more aggressive and what next steps should be considered.
