Pain in upper right side of abdomen, right under ribcage.

Okay, so a few nights ago. the Tenth, I started having a pain in my side. I would not call it extremely painful, though it was quite uncomfortable. When I lay down it hurt worse, but when I stood up, or sat it felt a little better. So I stayed up, waiting it out. I took Gas-x, Rolaids, and Tums, and none of these seemed to work, it only got worse. Finally I took some Mylanta, and within the hour the pain had subsided to very dull. But it was still there, localized almost completely in my upper right abdomen, right under my ribcage.

This all began after eating some chicken nuggets, the kind you unfreeze, and a couple of pizza slices, along with some Mountain Dew.

I do have a history of high enzyme levels due to mitochondrial malfunction, and a lesser ability in my cells to process fat, which has caused complications before. Mostly in my liver. Which could very well be what's hurting. Something makes me think this is part of a increase in enzyme levels that went higher than usual. But I am not sure. I have felt the pain before, but never this prolonged.

I went to sleep that night, and it stayed down, mostly only coming back in spurts. I have not had vomiting or diarrhea, though I have not gone to the bathroom in that way as usual as I do, only twice in the last nine days.

I have tried cutting down on the fatty foods, pepto bismol (which made it feel worse), more Gas-X (which sometimes helps), raisin bran (for fiber in case it is constipation), and more vegetables, while it has increasingly gotten lesser, it has not gone away entirely. I have pondered the possibility of an ulcer, but there are no signs of blood in my stool.

So it could be alot of things, and as I am without medical insurance I have put off going to the hospital, but something tells me maybe I should, and there -is- a free clinic near here.

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone had any more ideas, or the doctor himself did. I am running out of them, and just would like this pain to go away. I do realize that might mean a change in my diet, and even getting off Mountain Dew or other caffienated drinks entirely, and while that is hard for me, I think I can do it.

alright, fire away

I had an ulcer and didn't know it for a long time, the pain came and went, it didn't always throb according to what I ate or anything like that, you don't have to have blood in the stool - an ucler is heliobacter (spelling?) - a bacteria - try the 14 day over the  counter Prilosec (purple box) and it should at least tell you if that was the problem - if the pain is still there after that then it could be gall bladder -

If you are addressing a doctor, you need to post your question in the Experts forum, not here - this is a patient to patient forum. Also you have to start your own topic, not ask a question on someone else's topic and question. Sorry :)

also forgot to say, the last couple days I have felt warm, like a fever, yet not a fever...sweaty, and a bit nauseous at times. and other times an increased energy I haven't felt in a very long time.
