Painful bloating in stomach at nighttime

by rewi, Oct 14, 2002 12:00AM
For the past year I have been experiencing painful bloating and cramping in my stomach mainly when I go to bed. It has kept me awake at night. It feels like I may have gas; like I either need to burb or the other but nothing seems to "move". My doctor put me on Nexium saying it may be an ulcer but I strongly disagree with him because I don't feel nay burning or heartburn at all – it's a painful bloating in my stomach. I can't seem to pin down if it's anything I eat because it happens so randomly. The Nexium doesn't really seem to do anything. Any ideas?

I'd highly suggest supplementing your meals with additional digestive enzymes. Go to your local drugstore and pick up a combination of enzymes. (usually pancreatic enzymes, and papaya) In addition to that, I'd start yourself on an elimination diet to remove various food groups from your diet. You could be intolerant to dairy, wheat, or something else that you're constantly eating.

Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've wondered about those scenarios also. I'll give them a try. Thanks again!
