If he is having discrete episodes of acute pancreatitis then it is considered acute, but if this is happening over and over again then it could be chronic. When he gets this pain again, do blood tests confirm that he has pancreatitis or is he only having the pain, not actual pancreatitis?
This is the brief history for the disease.
My brother is having a acute pancreatitus attack on 19 november 2007 after that he was admitted to hospital where he spent about 1 month in I.C.U.,and he is given feed through pipe to bypass his pancreas.The city scan results shows an acute pancreatitus of grade 'E' with severity index '6' .He got discharged from hospital on december 15 after coming home,he again feels pains in his stomach on 30th december,after that he is admitted again on 31 december then again he is not given anything to eat for a weak after his pain settle down he got discharged on 7 january 2008.Again after 5 days he again suffers from pain on 11 january and again admitted to hospital for 10 days and discharged on 20 january.even now he is not able to digest anything.he is again having recurrent pains after somedays and we are not able to understand what is going on...we have a MRCP test in apollo hospital delhi (india).but it has showed nothing no STONES at all.he is not ALCOHLIC too...the reason for acute pancreatitius in still not known to doctors.Right now we are taking medicine from Dr. Ajit Sood (gastreologist) DayaNand Medical Hospital,Ludhiana (Punjab) INDIA
