I have a question.....I was diagnosed with B-12 deficiency from perniciousPernicious anemia anemia, I have been getting B-12 shots for about 5 years since I was diagnosed but when my insurance changed the new insurance said NO to these shots that I need to stay alive. I ahve not had a shot in a few months but I also have other health issues so I don't know if me being exhausted all the time is from the lack of B-12 or something else. My majorMajor tears Major-gesic question is.....if the B-12 deficiency was caused by the perniciousPernicious anemia anemia and that is caused by an absorbion problem in my stomach is anything that I am trying to take like other supplements or meds getting to where they need to be and doing what they need to do or not? I am now assuming that because my body doesn't absorb things that chances are nothing is getting absorbed, does any of that sound right?
Hello! I am sorry to hear about the insurance. I know that is frustrating. You are right, you can not get B12 from the foods you eat because of the PerniciousPernicious anemia Anemia. Oral meds WILL NOT work. You have to have injections. I think that you can definitely fight it because if it goes on too long...it can cause severe problems. Being tired is definitely a symptom. FYI, you can also have multiple miscarriages. I never see it listed but it was the cause of all of mine and once it was regulated...I carried my next prgnancy to term. I am now lucky to have 4 beautiful children. Anyway, hope some of this helps. Good Luck!
Reguarding your question about PA, you can take some MethylMethyl aminolevulinate topical B-12 to help get you through until you get OK'd by your insurance.Get the kind that you take sublinguely, under the tongue, I get it online. I get Jarrow's Methylcobalamin B12 5000 mcg, these are lozenges, that you put UNDER your tongue until they disolve. I have PA and get the shots monthly, I was told about this suppliment to the shots on another help website, and it seems to help. I hope that this helps you.Calif.gal
I just wanted to write and thank you both for your responces. They both helped alot. Calif.gal thank you especially for the heads up about the lozenges, I'll have to look into them, I just wish my stupid insurance company would get a brain and allow me to restart the shots. I'm wondering if anything that I take like any of my meds I take are actually being absorbed and are they doing anything? I can't seem to get any answers from anyone about anything, drs are not helpful either.
So thank you both,
Trish
