Please Advise....Urgent

Hi Doctor, please can you help me..

Ok so I'm 26 year old male who lives a relatively healthy lifestyle, Last year I notices a white sticky substance in my stool along with blood, I panicked a bit and went to a drop in center at the hospital. The doctor told me it was nothing serious and sent me on my way.

The symptoms did pass after a number of months, but then returned about 8 months later. I went to my local GP and was sent to hospital for a chat. I explained that I was getting quite blood in my stool and white / green substance along with allot of gas. He advised I should have a Enima / Colonoscopy, I had it last week and he said that it wasn't serious and he couldn't see anything. Since then when i went to the toilet more of the green substance followed followed by a mild case of diarrhea and then a darker shade of blood and probably slightly more of it. I am really starting to worry, what would you recommend as I also feel I am going to the toilet more often.

I have done a bit of research and it does sound like Amebic colitis, gastric ulcer, Polyps, Ulcerative Colitis or Crones disease. I just don't really know what to do next. Shall I go back to my GP and ask them to take samples of my blood stool??

Some people are telling me to completely change my diet and eat more fiber / fresh fruit etc.

Your advice would be much appreciated...

Thanks

Hi mate,

No he said it wasn't serious....Im going back on the 7th of June to speak to him to try and get some answers, I will let you know what happens and maybe i will finally know what's wrong...my symptoms haven't gone away like i hoped, maybe wishful thinking.

Anyway if he said its not serious i hope he is right...its so good having these forums giving me the chance to speak to other people about it...

Did the colonoscopy show the source of the bleeding?

I would definitely have stool samples done to test for parasites.  Make sure the stool samples are retained in a preservative and do three or four of them.  Parasites can cause blood/mucus and diarrhea.  Good luck.

Hi patient 915,

thanks for replying, I had the colonoscopy last week and he said it wasn't serious but my symptoms are still as above.

We aren't doctors in this forum.  You need a colonoscopy.  Samples of your stool will probably only show that there is blood in there but won't tell you why.  A colonoscopy is likely to show why you are bleeding.
