Please help me to understand report

by cricket6868, Jun 16, 2006 12:00AM
I have been going through tests for upper right sided abdominal pain.
I know I have more tests to be done but, cannot understand the ultrasound report that states one of the findings was a collapsed gallbladder.
My question is it normal to find that the gallbladder is collapsed or does this indicate somthing else?

My doctor just mentioned that I had stones and a possible hemangioma but, not the collapsed gall bladder.
  Thank you in advance,

It is difficult to say without examination.

A collapsed gallbladder can be caused by stones or a mass.  Further imaging can be done with a CT scan.

Blockage of a biliary duct can also lead to a collapsed gallbladder.  An MRCP to look at the ducts can be considered.

Again, I'm only speculating on the internet.  I would discuss this finding with your personal physician.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
