Porcelain Gallbladder

Recently diagnosed w/porcelain gallbladder, I'm going to have a cholecestectomy .  I have had multiple abdominal surgeries, including abdominal wall reconstruction with mesh.  Am I still a candidate for laparoscopic surgery, or will I have to undergo an open procedure?

Thanks for your comments.  I strongly suspect that my surgeon is going to opt for an open technique, as he's never done a laparoscopic procedure since the one in which I nearly died (14 days in ICU) from peritonitis caused by the puncture of my small intestine by a lap staple during a peristomal hernia repair.

This is a question that only your surgeon can really answer. It will depend on the extent of your previous surgeries, your tendency to form scar tissue or adhesions, your overall medical history, and your surgeon's level of comfort in using lap surgery in your case.
