Possible Colon Cancer?

by CW41, Jan 17, 2003 12:00AM
I started having narrow stool back on 1/6 so I went to my GP who did a rectal exam and stated I had an internal hemorrhoid and there was some traces of blood on a fecal test. He gave some cream and told me it should decrease swelling in a week or so. I am still concerned about cancer. Should I pursue other test. I am a 28 year old male and really have no other signs or pains. There has never been a case of colon cancer on either side of my family. Am I overreacting, should I go to a specialist and have other tests performed? Any input would be great! Thank you

I am 29 yr and have the exact same symptoms ..I have been having narrow stools also and went to my doc who did a rectal exam and the fecal occult blood test also had a small amount of blood..I also have hemmroids although at the time I didn't think they were bleeding..I also have had constipation but since taking metamucil that has gotten better..do you have any other symptoms? was your hemmroid bleeding at all before you went to the doc? to make you more at ease I would make an appt to see a GI doctor..that's what I did and I decided to have a colonoscopy done next week just to make sure nothin else is going on..I am scared

I just wanted to let you know that I have used this natural herb supplement called, "Colon Clenz" for constipation in the past.  It was one of the best I have found.  I only took one tablet when I felt constipated and it would soften stool and had no cramping effects.  I hope both of you make out ok.  I am going back to the doctors this week.  I now am passing quite a bit of blood and also have narrow, light colored, stools with severe cramping everytime I eat anything that is not bland.  I can't even tolerate a little onion anymore.  Again, good luck to you both.

Thank you soo much for all the responses. The doctor said I did have a very small amount of blood and said it was from the internal hemorrhoid. I really have had no other symptoms or pains. He also gave me colace. I have no constipation any more but still narrow stool. I think I am going to make an appt. with a GI and see what they say. will let you know the outcome. One can only pray for the best!! thank you again

I just read that calcium really helps the intestine/colon.  makes sense.  Dr selling pills on tv said our bodies should be blanced between alkaline and acid.  the calcium nuetralizes the acid a bit.  since i have started taking calcium/magnesium supplements my stools are better, as for the narrow i have found that fiber is the best. but doesn't everyone agree that narrow stools generally means interior hemmoriods.
