Possible anal discharge

I sometimes notice a whitish-beigey-grey cheesy substance on my anus.  It's slightly moist and there's usually not a lot, certainly never enough to move past the anal area onto underwear or other clothing.  It has a faint cheesy odor and no fecal smell.  When looking around the web, the closest matching thing I could find was descriptions of smegma, but everything I read said that that was a genital secretion.  I'm really kind of worried that I should be paying more attention to this, if only for the sake of sanitation.  If it's a discharge or something really nasty I want to do something about it right away.  Does anyone know what this is?  Any help is hugely appreciated.

No, no pain or itching.  I'm hoping this is something normal.

do you feel some pain there or not? discharges might be due to abccess or fistulas, but they are painful. I have a lot of experience on this and had very bad times. Your case doesn't seem to be sth like this, however.
