Possible parasites

I think I have had an intestinal parasite for months.  I have not been tested, its just my gut feeling (no pun intended).  I now think it may have gone into the liver/gallbladder area.  I may be totally off base with the idea of the parasite...but this is what is happening.  I have a dull ache in the RUQ for a few months now.  My GGT is elevated, first it was 158 (discovered on insurance bloodwork), repeated one month later it was down to 123. I am not an alcohol drinker.  Hepatitis panel all negative.  AST/ALT are normal.  All other labs normal. No other symptoms. And I should mention that I occasionally see long stringy things that look like mucus strands in my stool (but I don't think they are mucus).  I will be seeing my dr. again in a few days, and she will probably recommend an ultrasound at this point.  Anybody have an experience with parasites??  How were they diagnosed with you??  Will an US show if parasites are blocking the bile ducts?  Thanks for any info anyone has....

Sorry to hear about your trouble. An US it not of any help as far as parasites go. An US won't help at all as far as the intestines go, but they can look at the liver, gallbladder and pancreas with it.

Do you have diarreah (diarrhea) or any gas problems? Does you back hurt as well as the RUQ?

You should go ahead with the US, but I would also ask for a colonscopy.
