Post Colonoscopy, 26 yo Female

by redkim, Oct 21, 2008 01:16AM
I had a colonoscopy earlier today, I am a 26f.  The doctors gave me a sedative but I was awake most of the time and could feel when they would make a turn because I would get an awful cramping feeling.  I guess they eventually gave me more of the sedative because I don’t remember much after I was telling them I was in pain from it.

Afterwards I felt fine, just gassy and came home at around 4:30pm and ate a salad.  Which after eating about half made me nauseas so I stopped and ate the rest 30 minutes later.  I went to bed at 6:00pm and woke up off and on until now 11:00pm because of abdominal discomfort.  I feel crampy, bloated and my stomach is swollen.  Yet, I can’t pass gas. It hurts only on the lower right side and I feel constipated.  My stomach is gurgling like I am going to have to pass gas, but nothing comes out…

I also found it difficult to pee, but that could be because I am dehydrated from the diarrhea on Sunday.

Is this normal???

Thanks!

Try boiled chicken and mash potatoes for 2 days. The prep solution or pills probably are still in you. I was still pooping water for 24 hours after my exam and not so wonderful the next day. Blan and soft. Fiber foods but I don't think salads like tomatoes, lettuce, stuff like that is a good idea for a few days after having prep meds. Probably the salad causing it. Problems peeing, no idea. Call and ask your doctor. I had no problems peeing after I started drinking fluids. However I did not need to pee for a very long time after prep since liquid was coming out my butt. Once that stopped I started to pee. My best advice is to call your doctor and tell your doc how you feel and see what they say today. :)
