My husband had a gastrojejunostomy 8 1/2 yrs ago. He is having a lot of abdominal pain. After performing an abdominal ultrasound, MRCP, an upper endo showing obstruction, an imcomplete colonoscopy (didn't inform patient that Ensure - his main dietary source was high residue and should have been discontinued longer than instructed before the procedure), and lab tests, his diagnosis is sludge in the gall bladder. He was hospitalized in August 08 for a week with blood infection and ecoli. We are concerned these were not fully cleared up but no one seems too concerned about retesting for a remaining infection. He lives on Ensure Plus, cream of wheat and low-fat sherbet. He lost 20 pounds in 6 months (he didn't need to - he is thin) but weight has stabilized. He is always in pain and always nauseaus. He also has a degenerative neck
/spine/extremity disease for which he takes medications. We are at our wits end about who we should see for a provider that could figure out how to improve this situation. He has no quality of life. No one seems anxious to attempt open gall bladder surgery. Gastroenterologist suggested waiting a few months and doing another ultrasound. He also has triglycerides
