Postive Comments for Colonoscopy?

Does anyone have a positive story for the Colonoscopy experience?  I can only find negative information regarding the semi-sedation, extreme pain, and lingering problems.  Someone's must have gone off without a hitch.  If it never goes well, I'm seriously considering cancelling mine!

I, too, had a very good colonoscopy experience.  And this was even tho I had diarrhea half-dozen times daily for SIX MONTHS.  So, you can imagine I was a little concerned about them putting that scope in there.  Anyhow, they put me in "twilight sleep," and after all that misery of diarrhea, I gotta say the day of my colonoscopy was the best day I had that whole year!  Ohhh, I felt SO good.  The prep is most annoying, tho, as the other posters said.  But it's certainly no worse than taking cough medicine or having to go on a diet, plus you have to visit the bathroom a lot.  But once you get to the doc office, they start injecting stuff to relax you, and then when they add the dreamy drugs, you will be singing and talking and snoozing and having a good time.  If not, tell the doc and nurse right away, it's not like you HAVE to put up with meds that didn't quite work, and they'll adjust your meds and give you the right stuff to make you go to la-la land.

Keep in mind that on the blogs you will only find the few who have had bad experiences, not the millions who have had good ones.  I've had colonoscopies and the prep was the worst part.  They DO put you totally out, and the worst you will have is some gas after the procedure will passes easily and quickly.  My 3 children had to have yearly colonocopies starting at 7,8, and 10.  I figure if they can handle them, I needed to also.  They never complained of anything but the prep!  Everyone I know has had nothing but good experiences with their scopes.  Don't allow fear to keep you from getting a test that can not only save your life, but prevent you from enduring horrible pain and suffering as a result of not getting the test.  I worked for 2 GI docs also, and we never got any complaints.  Relax, you'll be asleep before it even begins......

semi-sedation? I was totally gone. honestly I have doubts that they actually did anything (not really) because I expected to feel some discomfort or something after the procedure but, its as if it never happened.

The worst part about it is the prep, it was hard for me to not eat for that long, and to drink 2 liters of tri-lyte within 2 hours the night before was bad, my advice if you have to drink the tri lyte is to drink it as cold as possible with a straw, and use the orange flavour packet. but really once you do it, its fine, I didnt have any pain or cramps from the prep like some people had said online, and trust me I was scared of it because I already had pain and to make it worse would have killed me.

I was really concerned about taking the tri lyte, for some reason I freaked myself out about it, i almost canceled the procedure over it, so it was time to start drinking the stuff and i was searching the internet for experiences, i found this blog, it actually helped me, gave me peace of mind, http://idothings.info/i-had-a-colonoscopy-so-you-dont-have-to/
