Proctitis?

Hello. I've been having a feeling of fullness in my anus. Also, some anal pain and pressure, like I need to have a bowel movement. One week ago, I had some bright red rectal bleeding. This was the one and only time. I'm also having some mucus in my stool. Bouts with diarrhea, frequent and small amounts. I just finished a zythromax antibiotic treatment for an ear infection. Does this sound like proctitis? I went to a gastro dr. and he didn't find anything during a digital rectal exam. I'm scheduled for colonoscopy May 19. Until then, I'm trying to find answers to set my mind at ease.   Thanks

Regarding you have colonoscopy in May, you've done what it needs to be done. How do you know that I'm not Dr. Boron?

(I'm not). :)

I just turned 45 in March. My gastro dr. says he doesn't think it's serious. But that didn't help me much. He only did a digital exam and a blood test. BTW, his name is Dr. Boron.

How old are you?

It may be proctitis, which may be from ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease.

It may be diverticulitis.

If you're after 50, it may also be a cancer.

It could be an infection by Clostridium difficile, which is a complication of antibiotic treatment. For this last, you can have stool culture test for Cl. Diff., for all other you need to wait for colonoscopy.
