Proton Pump Inhibitors - Withdrawal Affects?

Do they have withdrawal affects? I'm currenting being treated for acid reflux, but I believe its bile reflux from gallbladder surgery so they would only make it worse...

Are there any withdrawal affects and what are they?

Taking protonix currently for 3 months once a day 40mg

Thanks for the answer...I will cut the pill in halves...then quarters...then H2s until I can find proper treatment for bile reflux disease which I believe I got when gallbladder failed...and then got removed but still massive pain

There can be rebound reflux. In other words, when the proton pumps that help to form the acid are shut down for a period of time, when they turn back on the production of acid can be much higher than normal for a period of time. When someone comes off of a PPI, it might be a good idea to taper slowly and then transition to an H2 product. 'Cold turkey' is not a good idea.
