at 4 weeks old. I had surgery to correct this. I have struggled with low weight until I had my son 3 yrs ago. I now have issues with GERD and constipation as it feels that my stomach is not emptying appropriately. I take Zantac and liquid antacids and now have added Reglan to help this problem. I do not want to take all of these meds any more but cannot deal with the discomfort if I stop. Is there any hope of relief? I have had 1 child with no problems with my scar. So there is hope for all you women out there.
What you describe here sounds very much like several other women's stories - check out the various links on this page to other Discussions related to pyloric

Almost everyone with abdominal surgery gets adhesions, scar tissue which grows inside the wound and even between internal organs. Sometimes these start to affect our functions - someone tells of needing more surgery at age 5 already and also since then. Surgery to remove adhesions is possible but is to be avoided as it causes more to develop in time.
This is one of the arguments for parents and doctors to consider the medical alternative to surgery for PS - tho' admittedly the surgery is a quicker, easier and cheaper fix. Treatment with the drug atropine sulphate reduces the swelling
but takes 2 weeks or more and careful monitoring to avoid side effects. But after this the stomach functions normally again - and without scars and adhesions.
