Questran for chronic severe diarrhea any input

Hello, I am starting a new medicine for severe diarrhea.  Has anyone taken Questran (cholestyramine)?  Has it helped or cause worse problems.  Does it actually stop the diarrhea? I am taking also Lomotil which has not helped much at all. I started it 2 days ago and have not noticed any change.  If this med doesn't help than I will have to start on TPN.  Thank you for any information you can give. LInda

I did take Questran for a little bit, but it was for my liver related itching. It was pretty unappealing, but I do not recall any side effects.

I take 2 scoops or more a day of cholestyramine along with a tsp of (Metagenics) brand called Glutagenics powder for severe diarrhea after my large intestine was removed in 2006. Colestyramine is a good product I've found (THE YELLOW POWDER) not the pink, it has something like sweet & low in it..... I also take by (metagenics) LactoViden ID. The also make a product called Herbulk which I like better than the colestramine. But if your ins. will pay for the cholestramine (the yellow) is a a good product.
