REVERSAL OF ILEOSTOMY
Can a total colectomy with an ileostomy be reversed? If so who do I contact. Also how long can I expect to have anal pain?

Kat, this is something you need to discuss with a competent surgeon, hopefully the one who initially did the surgery. In some cases the ileum can be re-attached to what is left of the rectum, but in most cases when the initial step is taken - the ileostomy - methods are used so that the plan down the line is that reattachment will be planned for 8 months to a year later.

Go back and talk to your surgeon/doctor.
