Recovering from Total Colectomy

by clairelouise, May 22, 2001 12:00AM
Hello,
My friend recenty had a total colectomy and is having a very hard time digesting anything at all. She can't eat vegetables, milk etc and has diarrhea almost all the time, which makes life very difficult. She's 33 years old and had the operation several months ago, and then a second 5 weeks ago due to internal scar tissue bleeding, after which there has been little improvement.
Is there anyone who has had a similar experience? What helped / what happened in your case? ANY comments or suggestions would be very welcome.
Thanks a lot.
Claire

I am sorry to hear of the difficulties after the surgery. My son age 19 had a total colectomy done and is doing wonderful, he kind of watches what he eats but hasn't had much problems. I hope things get better.
