Rectal Pain

Rectal Pain

I read a thread in which many people complained of pressure in their rectal area. I've recently been through a similar issue. I'm a huge believer in dietary related digestive issues having had severe indigestion, GERD, debilitating heartburn, lactose intolerance and gas/bloating in my past. I eat almost NO wheat, corn, soy, rice, potatoes, or starches and very little dairy. I follow almost a Paleo diet in which fruits, vegetables, nuts, meats, eggs and some dairy (a little yogurt and raw cheese because the cultures are great for digestion) are my staples.

This past weekend was my Mother's birthday. I indulged in a piece of hot blackberry pie with flaky crust. I loved every bite but had tremendous rectal pain the next day: to the extent it made intercourse with my boyfriend painful (traditional intercourse, not anal...those areas are very close to one another, internally). Not until I had a bowel movement the following day did I have any relief. The pain continued to come and go, mildly in that area. I believe that ovulation was occurring at the same time, adding pressure to the area. Exercise, ESPECIALLY core and abdominal exercise has seemed to make it worse as it puts additional pressure on the pelvic floor/abdomen/etc. I AM IN NO WAY RECOMMENDING YOU DO NOT EXERCISE, but merely that during bouts of rectal pain, perhaps less direct abdominal/core work.

If not dietary, my only other thought is that this may be urinary tract related due to regular intercourse with latex/spermicidally lubricated condoms. If conditions persist, I'll see my doctor.
