Reflux & Heartburn Worse after surgery

by mlp3434, Jul 10, 2008 08:01PM
This past June 24th I had my gallbladder removed by  laproscopic surgery. I have had Gerd for the past 20 years and I had a few friends tell me that their reflux got better after the surgery. Well  my reflux and heartburn has gotten extremely worse and and my throat is very sore from the acid. I have been on Zantac for eons and also take Carafate and Protonix. The protonix will help but if I take it for a couple of days I get insomnia and nervous so I have to stop for a few days- then it's back to all the problems again. Has anyone had this problem? Will it go away eventually? I'm speculating that since one of the scopes was close to the herina, that maybe it irritated it. Could someone please help?
