Removal of PD stent.

My wife has been diagnosed with 'PANCREAS DIVISUM  WITH CHRONIC PANCREATITIS AND DILATED PANCREATIC DUCT' one year back.Before that she was diagnosed ACUTE PANCREATITIS again one year back.
Last year Aug'07,ACCESSORY PAPILLA SPHINCTEROTOMY WITH INSERTION OF SINGLE PIG TAIL PD STENT(7Fr 10 Cms) was done.She was fine till date(for almost one year).
Now, the doctor is advising to remove the stent,as it shouldn't be kept for long time.
Now,my query is (a) Whether it's ideal to remove the stent?
(b) Does it require re-stenting?
(c)What's the chance for recurrant attack?
(d)Is there any permanent solution to cure this disease?

The  PD stent has been removed last Saturday evening(5th Jul'08).Now,she is fine.
But,can anyone guarantee that the pain shouldn't come again.
The doctors pls advice.
