Risks of hemorrhoidal laser surgery

I have been suffering from painful hemorrhoids since 2001.  Even though I now follow all the rules (exercise, diet, no straining), they are sore on some level every day!  My gastroenterologist discouraged hemorrhoid surgery because of the potential side effect of fecal incontinence.  I have heard about laser surgery and it sounds like the answer to my prayers.  Is there a way of finding out if a large percentage of patient's who have had hemorroid laser surgery experience fecal incontinence or if it's a rare occurrence.  Thank you.

I had a hemorrhoidectomy in 2001. It was not the laser procedure but I can assure you I do not have fecal incontinence since the surgery. I will tell you this. It was the most pain I have ever been in post op. They tell me it is in the top five most painful surgeries. They were not exaggerating. However, I don't know if the laser surgery would be less painful. I also had a recurrence of hemorrhoids since then and had a second hemorrhoidectomy. That was three years ago and I once again have them. I am NOT going through surgery for a third time. I am learning to live with them. I have them very severely but can't seem to get rid of them.

i had laser surgery on my hemorrhoides almost 3 weeks ago i am far from healed and it is the most painful thing i have ever had done i can t seem to get well the dr told me a couple more weeks i have my doughts i still cant drive i cant go anywhere because soon as i have a bowel movement i have to soak in the tub and i have one at least two to three times a day  he told me to use fiber to bulk up my stools but it hasn t worked if i get these back i will never have this surgery ever again try something different i had them really bad but i could have lived with them or found a different method
