I'm 30 years old and when I was about 12 years old, I remember I began experiencing these incredibly horrid burps. They smelled like rotten egg and tasted like rotten egg! It soon afterwards went away. And since then, it would come and go about once every 3 to 6 months. Within the last 2 years my symptoms worsened. I even had moments when I thought I was going to die. These burps were accompanied by incredibly sharp stomach cramps, loud long farts and burps that sounded like a dragon roaring. My stomach felt like I had creatures stirring within. My uncomfort is such that I don't even like to wear a shirt over my stomach. I would vomit and have extremely explosive diarreah (diarrhea). At first I thought it was something that I was eating that my body didn't agree with. I thought it was eggs, then I realized that with or without eggs I'd still get these episodes. Then I thought it was onion, then chili like red crushed peppers. I kept cutting these out of my diet to no avail. I tried every antacid medicine from Pepto, to Alka seltzer, to Maalox, to Gas
X, you name it, and I tried it. NOTHING! They'd only help for a brief second and then the symptoms would come right back.
I kept shying away from going to a doctor because by the time I'd muster up courage to visit a doctor, the symptoms would vanish in thin air! I was so afraid that I might have stomach cancer or polyps or something horrendous until I ran into this website. I WAS SOOOOO comforted to know that I was not alone. I was feeling like a bit of a freak since I've never met anyone with this problem before. My research has lead
. That's a big step in the right direction since I really had no idea what I was suffering from. I still have to visit a doctor but at least I'm comforted to know that I'm not alone. So to all of you out there suffering from the same, hang in there, see your doctor, and don't feel like you are alone. I've survived so many years of this, and don't plan to suffer one more. The symptoms limit my ability to enjoy time with friends, and have even caused major embarrasments at work since everyone assumes I'm farting while it's just a burp. Most people end up running away at the first sniff of my rotten egg burps. I can't blame them, I feel like running away from them too. If you need someone to talk to, hit me up: ***@****
Dextrose works for me in my son. Sweet tarts pixie sticksand and Smarties all contain dextrose without fructose. We seem to be fructose intolerant and the intestinal
