I am 3 months post-op from gallbladder removal surgery and I am still having similar though not as intense "spasms" in my middle to RUQ. Could this be SOD? Is it fatal? What is the treatment for Type III SOD with normal manometry? My last liver panel prior to surgery was normal but had been slighty elevated previously. Can a GI specialist diagnose this or do I have to go to a specialized facility? Thank you for your time.

SOD is possible, and normally not fatal. Treatment can include endoscopic therapy - like electrocautery during an ERCP. Surgery can also be considered for refractory cases. Investigational therapies like botox injection can also be discussed as well.
A GI specialist is appropriate. SOD is uncommon, can may be better evaluated at a major academic medical center.
Followup with your personal physician is essential.
