Hi! I read with interest in your condition? My 16 yr old son has been having fevers, tired, and just 2 nights ago in the ER, they did a CAT scan which they diagnosed as "Mesenteric Adenitis"? Is that what you have? I lived in Chicago for over 30 years, and am most curious as to why you are coming to the Cleveland Clinic? Secondly, then why are you heading to Chicago?
I have read so much recently, that I am totally confused, as to where I need to go first, then next? I would prefer going to Chicago for all of this, but I am curious if you have the same issue, and who are the Dr.'s you are going to see? Any information that you gave would be extremely appreciated!

Superior Mesenteric Artery Syndrome? My fiance was diagnosed with this and just had his surgery and after 7 years of incredible weight loss, pain and vomiting i am kind of on a mission to reach out to anybody strugling to find out what these symptoms mean without wondering for years! Matt had so many CT scans, colonoscopies, endoscopies, and even a full g.i. series but it takes a skilled radiologist who is familiar with this to recognize the mesenteric angle being less than normal. At least a barium swallow will show if theres an obstruction or even dialation of the duodenum, which is suggestive of SMAS.  Don't give up! :) keep us updated.

I agree, continue testing. Its the only way to get to the root of the problem. I went through the same issues. I finally have my diagnosis. Dont give up, your doctors may, but dont you. Have you had an ultrasound of the mesenteric arterys yet? How about an 3d angiogram? Ask for one if you can. Ask for both tests. Lyne 0123, don't give up. I am getting scheduled for surgery soon to aleviate my stomach troubles, and I live in the southwest, I had to travel to Cleveland Ohio, and I am going to Chicago for the surgery. Do your homework. Research...If there's anything I can do Please let me know. I'm here for you. :)

Sounds terrible! All I can say is, keep up with the tests. Doctors sometimes take a LONG time to figure out what is wrong. Try new Doctors. Hopefully you have insurance?? When I was your age I was sick, and 3 Dr.s told me I was fine. But the 4th found a rare condition, so it just takes time. Way too long, but just be strong and keep getting tests. Good luck.
