Jelly, I know you probably know this already, but have you tried 'positioning' after eating - left lateral decubitus, prone, or knee-to-chest position - to try to help digestion?
Jelly, I wish I had something new for you to try, but I haven't run into anything new about SMA. Is the back pain due to the ligament of Treitz pulling on L1/L2?
Hi, a year later. Sorry. Ive been to a few surgeon's who want to do almost a bypass type sx. There is alot of cuts w/i the GI that I'm not willing to undergo. Reason being adhesions forming. If I have 2 partial blockages, why subject myself to 7-8 possible new adhesions/ blockages. I begged my Dr. (pcp) to put me on remeron 7.5 mg per night and have gained up to 110.0# now. Yay, but the SMAS has created malnutition issues, causing (?)osteoporosis..Badly and I m 50yrs young. I cannot undergo tx for the osteoporosis because the GI tract has not been resolved. So between having severe back pain, GI issues w/ terrible GI distention what should a person do? Most Drs I have come across have to revert to research in order to understand what SMAS is. Any news or info from you would be greatly appreciated CalGal.
Jelly, what kind of studies do you need, or what kind of help are you seeking - surgical intervention? How did it occur - scoliosis repair, car accident, or? What tests resulted in the diagnosis, and what does your current doc say about it?
