Scheduling Surgery

I got my HIDA results back today, and I'm only at 27%.  Can anyone tell me how long it took them to have their surgery after getting such results?  I've already been out of classes for nearly a month because of gallbladder pain and nausea, so I'm hoping it can be done quickly.  Just wondered what everyone's experience was.

I had my HIDA scan done around Sept. 12, saw the surgeon Sept. 16 and had my gallbladder removed Sept. 21.  It all pretty much depends on when the surgeon is able to perform it.  My EF was at 21% and the surgeon left the decision up to me since I was only about 10% below what they call normal.  I opted to have my out, and I am still experiencing similar symptoms.  I also have a hiatal hernia and I am being tested for autoimmune disorders as well.

When they removed my GB it was extremely inflammed, I have never had any stones, just a lot of pain.  Good luck to you!

I had the same problem with nausea for 4 months my Hida Scan showed 40% and they thought my gallbladder was the problem and I had it removed on 1-10-08 2 days later I had all the same symptoms I had before and I am still having them.  I get very nauseaous and have dry heaves for 36-48 hours and I have been on all kinds of medication and have seen a number of doctors and I still have my symptoms. If I had it to do all over again I would not have it out.  I hope you feel better soon.

A 32% ejection fraction is not abnormal. It could be considered to be possibly at the lower end of what might be considered to be normal, but without the presence of stones or other characteristics that are clearly gallbladder related, many surgeons are now reluctant to operated to remove a person's gallbladder because more and more people without stones, and with only slighter lower than normal ejection fractions, are having post cholecystectomy problems.

I, too, have struggled with persistent nausa, for about 4 years, actually.  They never found a GI cause, but now they are saying it might have been my GB all along.  I have no appetite and do burp now, which is something I never did before.  My docs, too, thought it was just GERD and put me on all the different PPIs, but none of them ever did anything for me.  My pain has been all over the place - from the lower right to the upper left and even directly in the middle.  It only recently moved to the upper right, but it's been mostly a dull ache that still gets worse when I eat and wakes me up at night.  I, too, have struggled to wear a bra - they just aren't comfortable.

If your HIDA came back at 32%, that is abnormal, and I would bet having your GB removed would be beneficial to you, as I'm hoping it will be for me.

Just wondering more details about your symptoms.  I have been struggling with chronic nausea(worse in the morning), burping, bloating, stomach gurlging,  no appetite, 2-5 episodes of loose stool every morning.  Had all kinds of tests.  Am on Aciphex for GERD but it doesn't help much (have tried a couple of other PPI's which also haven't helped much).  HIDA scan = 32%.  I don't have any gall stones, only 2 small polyps.  I have some discomfort that migrates around from sternum area (uncomfortable to wear a bra at times) to rib line and back of right side.  Discomfort comes and goes, but no sharp pain.    Could this be my gall bladder?
