Serious And Spreading

by coastalcalikid82, Nov 28, 2008 10:31AM
i know that most posts get generic answers and it seems somehow desperate to post on medical problems {doc knows best normally} ive been a medic and know basic medicine so please consider the following before tossing acid reflux or something absurd at me because trust me its not .
i started noticing symptoms of abdominal pain and headaches along with pain in the back of my neck about a year ago  that -only {normally} present symptoms at night-  it progressed to some severe night sweats and signs of meningitis {severe swelling in the brain} [headaches last for days as a dull pain in the back of the neck and are stronger at night when the swelling increases , reduces with 600 + mg of ibu otc] i have had green stool on and off loose to liquid and it feels like at times my bowls stop completely , its common at night to hear my stomach gurgle across the room its that loud , i went in and got spinal taped to check for meningitis and they said there was major swelling but the spinal fluid was clear and showed no signs of bacterial meningitis , they had said by elimination it was most likely viral , its been a year now since and viral meningitis would not explain the continuing symptoms , i recently went in for a blood test and everything came back perfect h pylori count etc ive had a 3 part stool test for parasites and nothing , now to boot its infected 4 of  5 people in my household and everyone is showing parallel signs of this  is there anyone thats come across anything like this? its got my doctors baffled and i can find nothing that even closely matches symptoms

This discussion is related to Abdominal pain that occurs only at night.

Coastal, are the others in your family direct relatives of yours - like your children? And are you having any other symptoms that could be similar to neuropathic issues or rashes or anything else that 'doesn't fit.' If so, and I know it could be a 'stretch,' but is there any possibility that you could be intolerant to gluten? In some severe cases, changes in CSF is found along with changes in glial functioning.

And I know it seems strange that the onset might be simultaneous, but stranger things have happened.

The other thing I'm wondering about is elevated levels of toxic compounds. There was a lady on another board with 'strange' symptoms - docs thought it was GERD or something similar for year, But she was actually getting poisoned when she and her husband tried switching to a diet richer in fish - and the fish finally tested out with 'metals' - she was buying from a single source.................just a thought.

noone in the house is related and it started with me then 1 more showed signs then the next week 2 more  and now the whole house {6 now}  we all eat different  noone drinks alcohol or eats alot of fish we have been known to share ciggerettes but thats the only way i could see it transmitting ,  are there any gasses or poisons that could onset these symptoms like radon etc propane  or anything common ?

by CalGal, Nov 30, 2008 05:55PM
Do all of you feel better when you leave the house?

I don't think radon fits the bill as far as symptoms, and the propane you'd end up smelling. But carbon monoxide could be a problem if the 'burner' isn't operating properly. All the symptoms don't fit, but some are the following with short-term exposure:
Shortness of breath
Mild nausea
Mild headaches

With longer-term exposure, it progresses to:
Headaches
Dizziness
Nausea
Light-headedness

But if it's serious, people typically die - there's no in-between stage with CSF problems from what I understand.

If you're all showing symptoms, has any of you left the house for any period of time - like a week or so - and found changes?

Have you checked with your local health department to see if there's anything 'going around?' In the water, or?

we've left for about a half a week came back still sick and now everyone in the house is showing parallel  signs and symptoms , my roommate who wasn't sick {and who cant take ibu otc dt ulcers}  was having one of our notorious headaches {we would normally take ibu and reduce the cranial inflamation (inflammation) } he ended up having a seizure and shooting blood out his nose then loosing consciousness  .... blood work is still clean and this insidious pathogen hasn't been found

Coastal Kid,
Go with what Cal Gal is telling you, she knows her stuff, and you being a medic ought to set off alarms in your head about carbon monoxide and that sort of thing.  Get a couple pros over there to your house and have them inspect your furnace, stove, chimney, refrigerator, vermin, hot water heater, plumbing (both incoming and outgoing), the whole nine yards.  Even if a toilet is not working right, the gas accumulation can actually blow up your house.

Also, even tho you left a few days and were still sick, it would take a month of Sundays to get over some sort of poisoning via gas or sick water or whatever it might be.  Your roommate's illness is truly shocking and I wouldn't spend another night in that house until a professional uncovers what is going on.  Check your home insurance policy and see what all is covered, by the way, to maybe help you out with this.

heres the problem , were poor and cant afford a hotel for any longer , family's dead so we got nowhere to go ...also were in the American health care system without insurance because we can barely keep our property dt the economic crisis  ,we have bought 2 new monoxide detectors  which show safe normal levels , i should add now it seems there are alot of people in this community with the same thing now  , people weve had no contact with or hang around ,  i just found out that our town had a diazen  spill in the gp mill site , is there any way this is responsible?  all blood tests show were perfectly healthy  wich were definitly not  i should add in bold IT ONLY SHOWS SIGNS AT NIGHT  WITH ALL INFECTED NOT JUST IN MY HOUSEHOLD . im hoping that is a key clue because that in its self seems like it thins it down , ive never seen anything other than salminosis that only affects people at night

i ment gherdia  not salmonosis   {correction }
