I had a colonoscopy 2 weeks ago. Two sessile polyps removed, 7mm and 8mm. Were to be sent to pathology. Now told the tissue was destroyed and nothing was sent to the lab as the Dr. 'was certain it was fine'. My mother died of colon cancer. Shouldn't my tissue have gone to pathology? I am very upset over this and don't know what to do.
I suggest you talk to a lawyer about this. That doctor has just taken a serious risk with your life. Your doctor must have known your medical history as well as family
-background and most likely knew the reasons regarding your mother's passing (which, I'm very sorry). The doctor, regardless if he 'was certain it was fine', should have tested the polyps to be sure. Yes, I recommend taking this one to court. See about the hospital paying for your medical bills for your recent polyps removal as well as any future removals (and having the hospital pay for those and the testing to be done on them)... and if they show that there is anything cancerous, you should have it so the hospital pays for any and all treatment to get you better.
