i am 43 years old in reasonable health. I have been having pain in upper left abdominal quadrant, medium to severe. I have constant nausea and vomit when I try to eat ANYTHING. I had a ultasound that ruled out gallstones
two days ago but symptoms have continued. I have had often and on distention of my stomach and minor diarehha in the two days. Prior to this attack I went 4 days with no bowel movement and took laxatives
ultrasound ( eus) done to look for this? That would be a good start. An eus can detect minute changes in the pancreas before it shows up on a ct scan. I would get a good dr to do it since some drs do not read the results correctly. CP also does not have elevated liver levels a lot of the time. Often the pancreas has burnt itself out and the levels will no longer raise.
Chronic pancreatitis patients often take enzymes before meals to help with digestion and can take meds to help with the pain. It can be idiopathic ( which means no known cause) , It can be genetic, from cystic fibrosis or from drinking . Do you have any of these issues?
