Severe stomach pains

I have, for quite some time now, been subject to severe, chronic stomach pains. The location of the pain is only in the lower left part of my abdomen. The pains don't occur very often, minor bouts occur maybe once every other month. There have been, however, a few episode that put me in such pain I couldn't move or eat or drink. The pain would last anywhere from five to eight hours. The last time a bout like that occurred was in October of 2008. The pain was so severe that I had to have someone call 911. Along with the stomach pains, I often vomit profusely. To the point where petechiae show up all over my face (not just around my eyes). I have been told I have 'Reflux' but no more than that. I have looked all around and it doesn't look like that should be the cause of my pains. I'm not certain though and I am anxious to find out. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

Yeah, I've already resolved to go get a second opinion about this. I'll start at least working on the dietary issues though. Thanks for the advice.

I guess (i'm sure they've already told you this) but hit the Fiber real good.. start slow, maaybe a small case of diverticultiis...maybe go on a clear food diet for a few days and then start fiber up.

I dunno that ***** :S if you had h. ployri it would have gotten super bad by now so don't think that's it.  I guess go to your gastro doctor for advice (not that i'm a doctor) but that is puzzling.

Well when I was admitted, they ran blood tests and did a CT scan and they all came back negative. They said that everything had looked fine on the whole. They considered everything from appendicitis to stones and they all came back negative too. They said nothing about H. ployri.

have you had any blood tests as far as pancrease/enzyme liver levels?  Some imaging done like CT scans looking for stones or...blood tests all normal?  H. ployri?  WBC/RBC counts ok?
