My sweet toddler (almost 2) has always vomited. Sometimes it's when he gags on something, other times when he has eaten more than usual, and always when he is sick. Any kind of sick. He'll have hay
and BARF. I'm not talking spit up. Full on, projectile barf. I would say on average, twice a week since he was born.
Two questions. First- my pediatrician blows it off. Just says that some kids are barfers. ??? Should I be more worried? ('Cause I am.) Should I get it looked into by a gastro-intestinal specialist?
Second, he has had a much more severe case the last 3 weeks, barfing and diarrhea non-stop. The first bit he wouldn't eat a thing. I was lucky to get a swallow of water down him. Now, he is at the tail end (two solid poops today and only one vomit) but he is SEVERELY hungry. Like, it's midnight and he's already been up twice begging for food- mostly starchy foods. He has never asked for food. EVER. He's not a great eater, and it's usually a fight to get him to eat. Maybe I should count my blessings that he finally wants to eat, but it's disconcerting. He has been shoveling food into his mouth all day (and night.) It's SO SO SO unusual for him. I guess it could just be his body making up for lost time, but for some reason the mommy red flag is waving.
dr doesn't think that it's anything to worry about. What you are describing does not sound normal to me at all. I have 2 children and neither have ever had issues like you are describing.
