Sick of being sick

A month ago I started on Chantix.   The first week I got the stomach flu that was going around.  Since then 3-4 days a week I am vomiting, have extremely loose stools and pain in my abdomen on the upper right side.  Like under my ribs. The pain shoots up my side to under my breast.   Last night, I woke up at 3:30  am and was vomiting.  I felt bad all morning and at noon, I started to feel better.  I just can't seem to stop this cycle. The local hospital here scares me and I have a doctors appt on Monday 3-23-09.  What do you think it is?  Thank you

I too had bad nausea using Chantix, but it did go away when I stopped. To me, your symptoms sound like your liver. Do you drink alcohol by any chance?  Either way, I agree your body is trying to tell you something and make sure your doctor 'hears' you and doesn't shrug it off as something minor if you think it's not. And I also agree that if you're in too much pain, it would never hurt to go to the ER to be on the safe side. At least there they'll figure out what's wrong with you before they let you out the door.

Best of luck.

Did you stop taking the Chantix?  A common side effect of this is nausea and with some people it becomes quite a problem  when taking it.  If you haven't stopped it, as long as you are sick, stop taking it and see if it makes a difference.  If you have stopped taking it then I would suggest you see your family physician.  It could be galldbladder attacks you are having.  When nausea is coupled with abdominal pain, it is nothing to mess around with.  It could be due to so many things and that is why it is imperative to seek the attention of your doc.  Good luck and hope you are feeling better soon.

I'm really sorry you are suffering.  I'm not a doctor and I know next to nothing about this stuff but those sound like classic gallbladder symptoms.  If you are in too much pain to wait, go to the Emergency Room and get looked at.  When you vomit to bile, you should REALLY get looked at.  You never know what's going on.

Please let me know how you make out?

Take care of yourself.  Good luck and Godspeed.  All the best,

Sam
