Similar, but not the same.

I have scoured the web, and while I see similar symptoms I have not found an exact match.

For the past 17 years I have experienced what feels like a burning soreness along my left rib cage, closer to my spine than sternum. The pain is chronic but inconsistent and has varying degrees of intensity- which may possibly be exacerbated by stress and perhaps diet, although antacids (even prescription strength) offer no relief. I have not noticed any stool abnormalities, and the symptoms don't seem to change with posture. I sometimes feel a little better if I massage along the cage or pull my ribs outward to alleviate the pressure; even an occasional cigarette seems to help. There almost seems to be a friction, ulcer, or build up- but the pain is too intense and extended to dismiss as simple gas.

Doctors I mentioned it to said that I was better off not finding anything because it would make it very hard for me with regards to future insurance coverage. Now, I don't have coverage and I'm still suffering. I shouldn't have to live like this, and although I realize I will need tests for a diagnosis- I am hoping to get some ideas to research online.
