Hi , I had hiatus hernia and suffered badly with it ...i was on the omoprazole and all the other medications but !!!! there is one sure way of making the symptoms ease quite a lot ..I spent nearly 2 years living off plain chicken breasts and pita bread and shredded wheat ..also only drinking squash ...nothing fizzy and do not fill your stomach up ....Eventually i had a laprascopic nissen fundoplication which left me with 5 lovely scars on my stomach "you can hardly see the scars" and i feel a new man ....Oh ..before you have the operation dont sleep flat "use 3/4 pillows..and for god sake dont bend over . it causes the acid to come ..
i was diagnosed of hiatus hernia. It seems to be no cure. Except just insure it won't occur again by doing some preventions like no smoking, lifting, chocolates and caffeine.
The danger there is if not been cured it might lead to esophageal cancer. It's a wear and tear thing. It's very annoying.
Good luck
Ade
