Sores in lower part of throat

I'm not sure what topic this falls under.  I am a 27 year old smoker who has been smoking a pack or more a day for the last two months because of ptsd.  In the last week I have had throat problems, and it feels like quarter sized sores or something in the lower part of my throat..Every time I swallow it hurts.  Two weeks ago, I had strep throat and the dr. prescribed Amoxil twice a day and I felt much better.  This feels nothing like the strep throat I had before, and it's constant.  Can you give me an idea as to what it might be and which type of doctor I should make an appointment with if necessary?  Thank You..

Hi..sorry to hear about your strep.,..before you had strep did you feel they sores in your throat?  Just curious....I would go back to my doctor and get checked before making any assumptions.  That is just me.

I didnt have that feeling in my throat before the strep.  You are probably right, I should have it checked out by a regular doctor first.  It just seems like sometimes they aren't as thorough here as they should be...maybe I'm just worrying too much.  I seem to be doing that alot lately.  Thanks for the reply.
