Sphincterotomy and fissurotomy?

I had a sphincterotomy and a fissurotomy 10 days ago. I have pain during bowel movements and can't really tell if I'm finished. I also have a yellowish leakage that I want to know if it will go away. Has anybody had this surgery and if you did how long was the recovdery! Thank you so much, Debbie

Hello Debbie,

I had a sphincterotomy 3 weeks back and the pain was very intense the first 2 weeks and I went to the doctor yesterday for checkup. The fissure has not healed completely yet and he said if it doesn't heal in 3 more weeks, he will perform the surgery again. I am literally scared about that.

I took Ibuprofen the first 2 weeks which helped with the pain and I am taking sitz baths twice daily which gives some relief. I am still in some pain and not sure how much more time it will take.

I am keeping my fingers crossed and hoping that I will feel better in the next 3 weeks. Reading info online, it looks like the recovery time can be between 3 to 6 weeks.

Please do let me know how you are feeling now.

Thanks,
Neeha.
