Hello all,
For the past week and a half, I have been having sticky/pasty bowel movements along with bouts of slight constipation, or maybe better worded, incomplete bowel movements. I have always had healthy bowel movements: once daily in the morning within 30 minutes of waking. I have a healthy diet in my opinion. I eat tons of fresh fruits and vegetables and drink truck-loads of water. I get plenty of exercise. There is no animal products in my diet except for cage free eggs, which I have every morning. I have 4 cups of coffee daily (have been doing this for about 3 months). So for the past week, I have had fecal material that is sticking to the bottom of the toilet bowl after flushing. The fecal material is brown, soft (always has been), and appears gelatinous and shiny. This change came about overnight. Also, for the past week, I have been experiencing not-so -great smelling gas along with some bloating, which I never have. I'm trying to think about what was changed in my diet that could have possibly caused this. I actually enjoy eating the same foods every day, so I'm open to ideas of the possible cause, especially so suddenly.
I had a terrible case of plantar fasciitis, so I did change my diet up a bit when that happened (2 weeks ago). Things that have changed during that time: started taking 2,000 I.U. Vitamin D liquid (have taken it in the past but had forgotten to take it daily), B12 (probably took too much, as I took 2,000mcg once for 4 days in a row, started eating 1 tablespoon of flaxseed meal in the morning (used to eat this all the time)...I also started seeing a PT for my plantar fasciitis.
I stopped taking my probiotics yesterday because I thought maybe they were contributing to the problem? Who knows. Yesterday, I also began eating cultured coconut yogurt again. I toned down the B12 to 2,000mcg twice weekly, and I stopped eating the flaxseed meal (two days ago). I didn't see any difference in fecal appearance this morning. I am considering drinking Kambucha tea to see if that helps. Does anyone have any thoughts? I would certainly appreciate it!
PS-I do eat protein bars (but have done so for months on end) that contain Agave. I know that agave has recently been in the news for being bad for you because of the fructose content...
