Still Having Trouble - What's Next?

First, I'm going to throw it out there that I don't have health insurance. So going to the doctor to check something out become a few hundred dollars I don't have. When things come to that, I understand I need to go but...that doesn't mean I have a doctor to check in with every so often.

Last Friday, I started with extreme gas under my rib cage. Had a lot of trouble breathing deeply, pressure, pain, etc. Almost went to the hospital but then I started belching. And belching. And belching. For the next week, I tried Xantac and Gas-X (to no avail). Everything I ate caused more gas pressure/pain.

On Friday, I went to a nurse practioner who recommended Prevacid (30MG). I went for it and Saturday and Sunday felt SO much better (minus some dizziness and lower bowel pressure yesterday). This morning, I took my Prevacid (3rd day) and got SO dizzy and SO nauseous. 30 minutes later, I threw up a little bit but not much at all (more dry heaving and a bit of bile). My symptoms are back now (gas, belching, trouble getting a deep breath in, minor troubles swallowing, more belching, etc.).

Should I continue with the Prevacid tomorrow? Is there any chance it will work? Should I drop down to 15mg? I don't know what to do but need relief.

If the previcid is not working then you could try prilosec but you should always try natural remedies first and there are tons of things you could try just google it. the reason you should try them first is that these medications should only be used for the worst case scenarios because they mess with your bodies natural functions and if and when you try and get off them you will usually have a relaps of symptoms be cause your body will try and level out its stomach acids and that could take a little while aespecially if you take them for a long period of time. So, the best bet is to try natural stuff first..google it. you will see.

you may also have an alergy (allergy) or intolerance to something. watch what you eat and write down when you have those problems. maybe that will point you to the culprit.

Have you had any of these symtoms (symptoms) in the past? What is your diet like? Have you been on anti-biotics lately or a lot in the past?

Thanks for the reply. I haven't been on antibiotics in a few months. I haven't ever had these symptoms in the past really and I really don't think it's diet. I'm allergic to dairy (so I avoid that) and eat a (well, before all of this happened and I stopped eating much) high-fiber plant and grain based diet. I tried over the last week avoiding other common foods like soy, gluten and caffeine that might be causing issues but to no avail. Everytime I intake something - anything - it causes more gas.

kev543, I'll look into natural remedies. Thanks.
