Stomach Gas

by jstrider3939, Oct 19, 2002 12:00AM
Dear Doctor,

I'm working on my 5th year of not being able to sleep because of excessive burping. This mainly occurs at bed time and at 5:00 p.m. each day as I drive home. I also may have the burps just after eating. Now I'm starting to have heartburn and Acid Reflex from the burping. Some of my burps are forceful enough to make my cheeks flap and make me sound like a horse. The Lactase enzyme I starting taking 4 months is a big help. Last night I took no lactase because I did not know my wife made speggedi with a new sause. After eating the new sause, I burped larged amounts of air for around 4 hours straight and finally went to sleep to only wake up burping more. No amount of gas-X, or symethocone or air swallowing can account or help with these symptoms. I've been tested for the HP bacteria, and gall bladder problems and am now 39 years old. I see stories like mine all over the internet, but do not see a cure. What is going on with my body? The bloating can get so bad as to effect my circulation and night and force more effort on my kidneys as I try to drink water to improve the situation. I burp gallons of air out of my system. What is the problem?
