Stomach Pains, Stools, Nausea

Hello!
Basically, my son got sick about a month ago and we found out it was a case of acute gastritis. He was throwing up what looked like blood and couldn't take anything in. He was hospitalized and got better. Lately, he has been telling me that he can not gain any of the weight he lost back, and he has minor stomach pains along with a nauseating feeling. He says that everytime he eats something, he has the immediate urge to go stool, and most of his stools are very loose. He can't fit much in his stomach either. Some days it feels better, while others don't. Please help me. Thank You!

Sorry I never responded. I had to go into the hospital for treatment. What did the doctor say?

Hello PrincessKatie! Thank you for your reply.

My son, age 15, has actually never had these problems until now and we are going to the doctor this week. He does have the immediate urge to have a bowel movement and usually has to answer immediately he tells me. The urge starts right after the eating is over. There is usually no cramping and he says that he can feel his stomach contract sometimes, but he has never had these symptoms before. Thats all the information he has told me I will be sure to go to the doctor this week but I am quite worried.

How old is your son?
Have you told the doctor about this?
He has the immediate urge to have a bowel movement, but does he resist it or must he answer?
Does he have cramping along with it?
Does the urge start at the beginning of eating, or after the eating is over?

This could be from any number of things and your son needs further testing with a GI doctor. It's hard to gain weight back when you continue to have diarrhea. Urgency after food is common to several GI conditions including IBS. For my IBS, as soon as I eat food, my brain alerts my bowel that it needs to make room for the food. There is miscommunication and it is not infrequent for me to rush to the bathroom literally bites into a meal.

I might be able to help more if you can answer those questions. Good luck!
