Stomach Polyps etc.

The gastro doctor tried Despramine for a couple of week started at 50 mg QPM now 100 mg QPM it does not seem to be working he is still in a lot of pain if and when he eats no matter how little or how much, and always as diarrhea after he eats.  The doctor told us if this did not work he would send us to Emory.  Well, it has been 6 weeks now and he continues to want to just increase the medication.  I understand he is not sure about removal of the stomach for him because of his history with surgeries and the one in 2007 he went into respitory failure and they had to stop and finsh the surger the following day.  My husband is so uncomfortable all the time he had worked for 31 years until 2007 and would like to go back to work again at some point.  Does anyone out there have any suggestions on our next step.

Short history:  My husband had colon cancer in 2000, he had surgery and his large intestine removed.  He then had several more surgeries due to ecoli, abdominal abscess, hernia and body rejected the mesh (all do to colon perforation during colonoscopy where cancer was found)  In 2007 he had surgery number 7 for small bowell obstruction from what was used to repair the hernia in 2004 adhered to colon and wall of stomach.   June of 2008 we found out from an endoscope that the had a carpet of gastric polyps, in Nov of 2008 we found from an EUS that he had thousands of gastric polyps.  Since Oct of 07 he has had nausea, diarrhea and feels bloated and full and in pain no matter how little or how much he eats.

You use to answer and then I would know what to ask the doctor.  Please, just tell me is there nothing else they can do for him.

Rebeka, hi, I have same situation as your husband. In many ways but having had the cancer. I started in 1992 when I discovered the polyps and removed the colon, had 1997 perforations and fistulas  and more, almost died that time during operation just like him with respiratory failure and all for 5 days and not able to come back, 9 weeks no food other than IV, had a miracle on the 7 day and had been fine since then with no more complications, had gastric polyps that they used to call just gastric polyps until just now, this last month my polyps have gone crazy, my stomach is now innumerable polyps (hyperplastic too) but I am real scared and anxious too. because some of the pain and feelings are a bit similar to your husband.  They have found also sessile polyps in the duodenum in two exams 6 months appart they found them like a thumb, took them out. I am wondering how stress or Hpylori plays a factor.  it is now a year after your initial postings could you please update me on the status and what has been dones since.  My personal email is ***@**** I want to learn more as I am real scared.  I think that if we may attack the acidity with foods maybe we can help us.
