Stomach Spasms????

I have a question regarding a very strange sensation that comes and goes.........out of the blue, I will experience some sort of spasm in my abdominal area (in the upper middle and to the upper left). It feels like a poof of air inside me that takes my breath away for a moment.........sometimes it only happens once and then no more and sometimes it happens three or four times in a row..........last night it happened when I layed on my left side and I really thought it was my heart that jumped, but I have had my heart checked the last time I was going through this and they said that my heart is fine.........the dr. even put me on a heart monitor for 24 hrs to make sure.........does anyone know what this might be???? If  it is my stomach or something else? Thank you.........:-)

I have muscle spasms in my abdominal, as well as many other parts of my body. I did notice that sometimes stress/anxiety brings these on. For me, it could also be my Mitochondrial problem. Their painless but a nuisance.

No the magnesium will help digestion and also help absorb other vitamins you take.
Your body is really screwed up, if you are having sinus issues as well. You really need to do a full body detox.  If you stick to fruits and veggies and all the other stuff I told you your system will start to regain strength. Your body needs to heal and you need to rest. It might take a year or so to get back to normal.

My right ear clogs too sometimes. I don't know why. It seems to happen more after I have cigerette. I am going to try the chiropractor to see if that helps at all. I will let you know. Other than that I am just going to stick to the detox I am on plus the magnesium because it makes me feel more calm and the digestive pain goes away.

Don't forget to do a lot of research the more you read and the more people you talk to the better off you will be.

Keep Smiling and Have a good Evening.

I thank you so much for your advice............I would like to know if you also dealt with breathing problems due to the acid reflux and burning throat and nose. Also, my ears and nose clogs at the same time..........I have heard that silent reflux does that.........that it can go into the lungs and sinus'............would that help those issues as well or is that why you are saying the magnesium tabs (for breathing)?

I would try magnesium tabs too but just talk to your local natural health food store clerk. Or even the owner.
Lucky for me the owner of the health food store here is at his shop every day and he is loaded with good info about the products he sells.

You will be o.k. Katseye...

You should see an Improvement right away but also remember to drink both: "stomach ease"  tea and "rasberry ginger" tea
Also remember to ONLY drink water when your thirsty. No pop, No milk, No juice, No Coffee.
Just drink water and lots of it.
The detox will help too. Stick to a meats, fruits and veggies. I have already explained that though twice but it is very important.

Yes! the pills are much better. I do not know why but I tried drinking straight apple vinegar and it didn't work for me either.

The strict diet is really going to help to! Make sure you are only drinking tea and water. No fruit juice or pop. There is way too much sugar in both drinks.

Do you think that this will help the throat, nose, gas, and breathing issues due to it? I tried the regular apple cider vinegar, but it made it worse for me. W Are the pills better than the drink? Thank you for the help.........God bless you!

The pepcid will not help. I have had acid problems in the past and the only thing that helped me was apple cider vinegar tablets. You can get them at your local vitamin store. Every time you have a flare up just pop one or two of those and the problem will subside.

From what I understand, the reason people get acid reflux is because people's bodies begin to create too much acid. Lets say you ate a piece of pizza that happened to be extra greasy. Your body then over produces acid to break down the grease but then also causes acid reflux and pain.

When you take pepcid ac, it stops your body from creating that much needed acid all together, which can be very harmful.

So when you take apple cider tablets it adds more needed acid and helps break down what is hurting your stomach. Which also helps slow down the acid production.  With out taking it completely away.

Go to your local vitamin store, tell them what is going on and that you think its acid reflux. They will help you. Also ask them about apple cider vinegar tablets. They will tell you about those too!!!

You can also drink tummy calming teas... Try "stomach ease" and "rasberry ginger".
They taste gross but work well!

I really think that mine is related to acid reflux/gerd.........to be more precise, silent relux, cause all of the things I am dealing with keeping coming back to that..........I am so happy to hear that you are feeling better, that is great!!! Praise the Lord!!! I am doing alright, no spasms, but am dealing with burning mouth, tongue , and throat and also a hard time breathing.......it seems to be linked to silent reflux, so I started pepcid ac extra strength today to see if I can stop the acid from rising and allow time for my throat and esophagus to heal, at least untill I can get to the dr..............:-)

No shes not but I found her at http://www.naturalcures.com/NC/find-a-practitioner.aspx Just copy and paste that link and then hit the button that reads " Find a Practitioner". You might have to sign up for the web site's 30 day free trial but you can get all the info you need off there in the 30 days with out paying a dime. Then just cancel. I never wanted to cancel though its a great site.

If you don't want to go that route you can always look it up in your phone book. Under Alt. Med. Or you can tell me what city you live in and I can post a list of doctors in your area. Then you just call around and tell them you symptoms and you can decide which doctor sounds the best for you situation. Its always good to interview them. If they say they specialize in the gastro intestinal. That might be a good pick for you.

Good luck!

Im starting to feel better! I just went to a chiropractor the other day and he also found that my back is kinda screwed up too. I told him the pain from my middle back radiates around to the front. I said that I thought it was digestive issues. He then told me that pain can radiate to the front and that it is very common. Just another thought for you.

The magnesium is in fact working though but I am on a detox program as well. I can Only eat fruits, meats no pork though and veggies.  NO NO NO Dairy and Eggs. The stuff they give the chickens and cows can in fact screw up your system very bad, meaning you want to buy Antibiotic free meats! Lots of water too...

Keep up the Good Work!

Thank you so much for your response..........I have been to the alternative herbalist and she thinks I may have a hiatal hernia causing these things.........I am on enzymes and vitamins and I also drink a little Kombucha tea each day to aid in digestion........I have found that prayer is the main key to what is helping me..........:-) The good Lord above!!!! I hope to be able to see a gastrointerologist in dec, when my insurance kicks in to find out for sure............but you are on the right path with enzymes and vitamins...........also, try a good probiotic, it will help to clean things up as well.........:-) Take care and please let me know how it turns out for you!!!!

I posted this same message on other boards where it seemed to fit a bit better. I know you folks aren't having all the other symptoms I am having but I do get the spasms on the upper left side and thought I would leave my message anyway and hope that it helps.

Good Luck!

I have been having similar problems for the last few months. It has been hard for me to pass gas and stool just like you. I have upper pain just below my rib cage that shoots down the left side all the way to my rectum.  Everything feels swollen.  Also my left side quivers occasionally. I stress out quite a bit and get bad anxiety attacks. Sometimes I get restless leg problems... I crave sugar as well which for some reason I believe takes part in all this mess.

Anyways, I went to the doc. and had almost everything looked at. They haven't actually inserted anything into my body, like a camera, to look at the walls of my bowels but they have done a Kat scan, felt my ovaries, and tested my blood and urine. Fortunately they could not find a thing and ended up giving me pain meds for an unknown muscle issue.

To get to the point, I finally decided to go a different route.  I picked out an Alternative Medicine Doctor. (Who I found over the internet). When I went to her office she ran a few tests and found that I was having digestive issues. She put me on a complete detox program. No Dairy, meaning no cheese, no milk, and no yogurt.  No sugar, meaning no pop, no coffee and so on.

This might be easier for me if I can explain what I can eat.  I can eat rice, white meat like turkey and chicken, fruits and veggies. But no citrus fruits like oranges and grape fruit because that can upset the tummy. Oh and no Eggs and no condiments. Also drink lots of water and no fruit juices because juice from the store is packed with sugar.

So yes you pretty much have to eliminate all the tasty stuff.

Then with this diet (which I have not completely stuck too) my doctor gave me Enzymes and a tone of supplements (which you would have to get from your own doctor).

Anyways after about four days of eating like this and taking the supplements I realized I wasn't going to the bathroom at all! I was almost completely blocked and the pain was still there if not worse! So I called her back and told her everything. She then came to a good conclusion. I was very deficient in magnesium!  She told me to get magnesium silicate. Which is a laxative in itself but the weird part about it is that after I drink that stuff all the pain goes away. This in my mind means I am headed in the right direction.

Now! I am not saying that this is the complete answer but just today I did some digging on magnesium and found that it is a very important part of the body. It helps keep our bodies in function and with out it can cause all sorts of problems. Like sugar cravings and even restless leg problems. It also helps with IBS.

So tomorrow I am going out and buying foods with high levels of magnesium. I found out that Almonds and the fish Haddock both have high properties.  I am also going to by the supplement as well.

I will keep you posted on my detox diet as well as the results of eating more magnesiam rich food.
Last but not least, I am not saying stop going to your regular doctor’s visits or that being defiant in magnesium is the answer. I am not a medical doctor; I am only speaking from my own experience. My best suggestion is do you research when looking for doctors, and when finding answers. Always!!!!!!!!!!!! Look at more than one avenue and never give up!

If anyone has any questions or comments feel free!

Good Luck,

No I don't , sorry. I have so many things going on with me that this is one I am not so concerned with. It is a strange feeling and mine started about 6 years ago.
I have mussel spasms and I thought that might be it but my wife gets it too so I just don't know.

That is what I am dealing with as well.........do you have any idea what it might be?.......My mom deals with the same thing and she has a hiatal hernia, do you think it may be from that? I am so tired of this stuff. Anyway, I just keep praying to the Lord and He keeps healing one thing after another for me, which I am sooooooooo thankful for!!!!............:-)

I have the same thing that happens to me and I don't know what it is either. My wife also has it and she had open heart so we thought that might be what cause hers. Her doctor put a monitor on her and nothing either. Mine feels some what like when you are riding in a car and go over the hump in the road and it takes your breath. But it happens a little faster like a puff like you said.
