Stomach Upset & full feeling after eating

For over a year I've had a hard time eating and have lost over 20 lbs. My appitite is small, yet I feel very hungry. I have bouts of nasuea and feel too full after eating small amounts of food. Sometimes this will go away for a few weeks then return. When I am hungry I can't decide what I want to eat. I have only been in a resturant twice in the past year for fear of getting too full and then getting sick. I have had an upper GI and that was normal, I am now waiting for an Gallbladder ulrasound to see if that is my problem. Any help on what to do or what this might be.

No I do not have any pain or any other things going on with my stomach. This started last year brought on by anxiety I think. I will slowly start to be able to eat more then all of a sudden I eat I guess too much then I get that too full feeling again. It doesn't happen every time I eat, but when it does it lasts for hours. But no pain. I can't eat anything then ride in the car cause I get nausous, so therefore I have only been in a restaraunt twice in the past year. I never had motion sickness like this before either. I stress about this all the time. My upper GI was normal, now I'm waiting to have my gallbladder tested.

Hi.  The Gastric Emptying Scan is an X-ray that shows how fast/slow your stomach empties food after ingested.  You go and eat some eggs mixed with a radiated mixture.  Ugh...it's gross.  Then, they X-ray you at different intervals, taking about 5 total in 90 minutes.

I just had one but don't know the results yet.

Just a question...do you have any other abdominal things going on?  Pain?

Good luck!

It sounds like you might have gastroparesis.  A gastric emptying test, would diagnose gastroparesis.  A gastric emptying test, tests how quickly your stomach digests food.  Gastroparesis is a stomach disorder where you do not digest food at a normal pace, therefore casueing nausea and fullness.  Gastroparasis is very common in diabetics.  I have post infectios gastroparesis, which means my stomach was damaged when I had the stomach flu.  I have been told by my doctor taht post infectious gastroparesis eventully heals itself over time.  Look gastroparesis up and se what you think.

Most of the time I have nasuea without eating anything at all, that's why I've lost weight because I don't hardly ever eat. I'm also afraid of getting too full, so when I do eat I eat just a little bit to see how I'm going to do. This over full feeing happens once in awhile not every time I eat. it's just that I never know when it's going to happen so I always just eat little bits.

Are there any certain types of food that bother you?  When your symptoms return after being gone for a few weeks pay attention to what may have caused a trigger?  Spicy, fatty, dairy, carbonation, etc.  Going for testing is great, but keeping track yourself of what is occurring at the time of flare ups helps with the diagnosis.  Nausea after eating can be from acid reflux, gallbladder, peptic ulcer, all of which are treatable.  Good luck.  Keep us posted.
