My 14 yr old daughter has been having severe stomach pains starting in the left upper quadrant and moving across. She is naseaus, feel full after eating very little, pain right after eating, has headaches after exercise, and her taste has been off. An ultrasound was done and all was found was a liver hemangioma
causing pain. Any help is appreciated. I am afraid the doctors will just try to send us on our way with no answers to this. The nearest pediatric Gastroenterologist is 120 miles away.
does not cause pain. Has she been checked for gallbladder problems? If not, I would do this and if it is fine, I think it would be well worth the 120 mile trip to get your daughter help.
gastrin blood level before they put her on the acid blocking medications? How is her taste off? Have they suspected gastritis and suggested a 72 hour clear liquid diet to see if it would calm down?
I once had a liver hemiangioma that later didn't show in a subsequent ultrasound. The only cause I thought later that might have been was I was taking generic serzone (since they took the name brand off the market for liver damage), but I'm not sure if the medicine I tooke was why it happened. It was said to be unusual to have one on my liver by a doctor, but not harmful. It is a collection of blood vessels.
Thank you for the ideas. The ultrasound ruled out gallbladder but they have not done any other tests at this time. She sees the doctor again today. She was in so much pain last night I tried Maalox. Even that didn't help. I just hate how doctors take the wait and see approach when she is in so much pain and missing a lot of school.
Hope your daughter feels better soon. I'm experiencing similar digestive issues, went to the ER they did ultrasound of stomach/gallbadder, came up with nothing.
