Stomach pounding, please help=(

Hey everyone, I'm hoping you guys can help me.

I'm a healthy 18 year old female, but back in 2008, I went through a period of a very uncomfortable stomach pounding. The best way I can describe it is a pulsating, uncomfortable sensation a few inches above my belly button. And it is CONSTANT!! I feel it ALL the time. After having that for a while, I got very sick with an H. Pylori infection. Got medicine for it and got better and everything went away. I'm guessing those two were connected, but I'm not sure.

I have been fine ever since, now it's 2010 and about a week ago I moved here to Alabama to go to beauty school away from all my friends. I was fine ever since then, until a few days ago, the constant pounding came back!! I am scared of getting really sick again and if it's serious, and the pounding gets worse after I eat.

I heard I might just be feeling me pulse through my aortic artery. I wish I knew for sure.

I'm nervous/worried cause I fear the cycle is starting up again!! I can barely sleep because of it.

I'm going to see the doctor next week, I don't know what to expect.
Also, I suffer from anxiety and depression. Not sure if that ties in with anything though.
Please, please help me! =(
Thank you!

Hey you're welcome (I hope that's all it is!)

But yeah geminigirl is right..it could be a wide range of things...best to get to a doctor at least and hopefully they'll test you for that stomach virus h. pylori again but yeah if it fails and acid reducers fail then well it could be some sort of infection so stool study or like gemni said some sort of imaging to rule out other problems.  So yeah follow the doctors of course cuz i'm not one but yeah hopefully you figure it out soon!  (for sure keep us posted I'm curious what it is)

while it could be related to the H pylori again, it's possible that even last time, these symptoms and the diagnosis of h pylori simply are coincidence.

I'm no doctor, but to me, it sounds more like your aorta.  Typically with h pylori or other stomach infections, ulcers, etc. - you may get pain in the abdomen, but you don't typically feel a "pulsing/pounding".

If you are a very slender person, this pulsing/pounding (if it is the aorta) could be felt more simply because of your small size.  However, and I don't mean to scare you, it could also be because there is an aneurysm or bulging of the aorta.  I'm a little concerned that you say the symptoms were there for a while, went away for a while and now have come back.  If, in fact, there is an aneurysm, it could mean that things are getting worse.

Like I said, I don't want to scare you, AND I'M NO DOCTOR, but if it were me, I would go see a doctor and ask that they perform an ultrasound and possibly a CT scan to check your aorta - both are painless tests that can show whether you have an aneurysm or not.  If you do, depending on the size of it, you may require surgery.  Many people with abdominal aneurysms dont' feel any symptoms at all and their aneurysms are discovered while having testing done for other things.  My grandmother had one that was discovered during an ultrasound she was having done in preparation for surgery for a prolapsed bladder.  She had the surgery and was absolutely fine afterward.

Like I said, I don't want to scare you, and I may be totally off base here, but I think it would be a good idea to check in with a doctor and check things out - especially in this case, it's better to be safe than sorry.

Best of luck - keep us informed as to how you're doing!

Hey,

felt kinda bad since nobody ever responded to your post but hopefully you get feeling better soon.

*if* your symptoms match...there's a chance it's the same thing, H.pylori.  Which is usually diagnosed with I think a blood test or breath test.  It *COULD* be an ulcer as well which would not show up in a test...sometimes those are caused by smoking/drinking..so if you're doing that I'd stop right away.

If the tests are negative sometimes doctors will put you on acid reducers as a trial..and if you're poor like me you could try those and get a trial pack from your doctor.

One last bit... I went through a massive amounts of tests and trials for years and I'm still trying to figure out what is wrong with me but after years of testing it turns out i'm fructose/dairy/gluten intolerant..possibly even celiac.  I've never been allergic or intolerant my whole life and then all the sudden BAM I am... whenever I have dairy I get depressed and I get bad anxiety which also turns me into a TOTAL insomniac (you mentioned you can't sleep) so don't rule out a food intolerances of some kind... dairy doesn't effect my GI system a whole lot but it does depress the heck out of me which it never did before...one tall glass of even lactaid takes days of sleep away from me :(

Ok that's my (i'm not a doctor but that's what a doctor will probably say or do for you..good luck to you!)
