Stomach ulcer query?? Please help!!

Hi everyone,

I wonder if anyone could help me. I had a mild bout of gastroenteritis a few months ago and was fine after 5 days. Then a month later I witnessed an emotionally traumatic event and my stomach hasn't been right since. At first I was just suffering from stomach ache and loose stools. I'd notice that whenever I'd take NSAID's (more specifically mefenamic acid) I'd feel nauseous and throw up a few days later. The last time I took mefenamic (in June) I was nauseous every morning for five days before it settled down. Last month I didn't take it and I didn't suffer any nausea.

I've had loads of blood tests done and everything came back ok. The only thing I have tested positive for is H. Pylori. I was given Triple Therapy but only managed to have one dosage as I was violently sick after them (threw up really badly, so bad that I might have pulled a muscle coz I heard it go) and stopped taking the medicine. That was a month ago. The single PPI pill I took made my stomach hurt a great deal. I know it sounds crazy but ever since then I've been experiencing pain in the upper right side of my stomach that is infrequent, alternating from a burning feeling and a sore, stinging feeling that lasts only a few seconds. I've had an ultrasound and everything was clear. I'm due for an endoscopy next month.

When I press on the area with my hand it feels very painful, like I can feel an open wound inside. Is this likely ulcer pain?? Is that possible to actually feel it?? I don't wake up at night with pain associated with ulcer, and I only feel pain if I am starving (when I wake up in the morning hungry there is no pain, whereas before I would get pain straight away if I was even a little hungry). I'm avoiding trigger foods like oranges, tomatoes, tea, coffee, spices, milk etc. I had tomato soup last week and was in pain afterward. But I would describe my pain as mild to moderate, I'm not doubling over in agony and it doesn't stop me from moving about, the pain lasts very briefly each time, like short throbs or pangs, occuring at random times during the day.

I've been taking no medicine for it, only natural stuff like cabbage juice (which has helped loads....the pain is very infrequent now compared to before), and recently mastic gum and manuka honey.

So I guess I want to ask, is it possible that a combination of stress, nsaid use and h.pylori has caused me to develop a stomach ulcer during this period? Do these sound like the symptoms of a stomach ulcer??

I'd appreciate the feedback. This has been ongoing for so long now; I just want my old stomach back : (

Thanks for taking the time to read!! Wishing all good health.
